Beef with Mandarin recipe, Filipino Recipes

Prep: 30 mins.  Cooking: 5 mins.  Serves 4.


  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp dry sherry
  • 1 tsp chopped fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 12 rib eye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbs peanut oil
  • 1/4 tsp ground white pepper
  • 2 tsp finely chopped dried mandarin peel
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp superfine sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup beef stock

Comine soy sauce, sherry, ginger, and sesame oil in a bowl.  Add beef and stir to coat.  Set aside for 15 minutes then heat peanut oil in a wok over high heat, swirling gently to coat base and sides.  Add beef and stir-fry for 2 minutes, or until beef changes color.  Add white pepper, mandarin peel, soy sauce, and sugar. Stir-fry briefly.

Mix cornstarch with a little stock and add to wok.  Add remaining stock and stir until sauce boils and thickens.
